Modern Floral Techniques for Large Blooms | Take 2 with Therese
In today’s post, I’m sharing two modern floral techniques using a large stamp set to create a clean, finished look - without spending hours coloring. Both cards use the same color palette and gold heat embossing, styled in two different ways.
Hi there, it's Therese, and I'm back with another edition of Take 2 with Therese!

You don’t need to color florals with markers, pencils, or watercolors to create a beautiful card. Here are a few simple tips I use to create easy, modern floral designs using the beautiful Twin Blooms Bundle.
Shop the supplies used to make this card:
- Twin Blooms Bundle
- Timeless Sentiments Die Set
- Peachy Glow Cardstock
- Brushed Gold Metallic Cardstock
- Sicilian Amber Gem Sparkles
- Antique Gold Crisp Embossing Powder
- Embossing Ink
- Peachy Keen Fresh Dye Ink
- Pink Diamond Fresh Dye Ink
- Sagestone Fresh Dye Ink
- Frosted Seaglass Fresh Dye Ink
- Warm Linen Fresh Dye Ink
- Ginger Root Fresh Dye Ink
- Masking Paper
- The Original Sticky Mat
Card #1: Graphic Stripes with a Large Floral Outline
Stripes always feel modern to me, and if you’re ink blending, almost any combination of colors will work. I like to keep the stripes vertical and focused on the left side of the card panel, which leaves space to stamp one of the large Twin Blooms over the top.
This could easily be a one-layer design, making it perfect for postage… but of course, I couldn’t help myself and popped up a Timeless Sentiments die-cut instead.
And some gold highlights were needed. I heat embossed the large floral bloom with some Antique Gold Embossing Powder and used Brushed Gold Metallic Cardstock for the sentiment.
Card #2: Partial Stenciling with a Soft Modern Look
Shop the supplies used to make this card:
- Twin Blooms Bundle
- Timeless Sentiments Die Set
- Peachy Glow Cardstock
- Brushed Gold Metallic Cardstock
- Sicilian Amber Gem Sparkles
- Antique Gold Crisp Embossing Powder
- Embossing Ink
- Peachy Keen Fresh Dye Ink
- Pink Diamond Fresh Dye Ink
- Sagestone Fresh Dye Ink
- Frosted Seaglass Fresh Dye Ink
- Warm Linen Fresh Dye Ink
- Ginger Root Fresh Dye Ink
- The Original Sticky Mat
This is a great option if you’re not a confident colorist. With the Twin Blooms coordinating stencils it’s easy to achieve a beautifully colored look without needing advanced coloring skills.
You may also notice that I stamped my blooms onto some Peachy Glow Cardstock. If you’re unsure whether the cardstock or ink colors you have will work together, try a quick test on a scrap piece first - it’s an easy way to experiment without committing to the final card (like I did 🫢).
And why not add a little extra bling, nothing like some sparkling Sicilian Amber Gem Sparkles to modernize a beautiful large bloom!

Which Modern Floral Technique Will You Try First?
It’s your turn! Are you team graphic stripes or do you prefer the softer, partially stenciled look? Or maybe you would like a more traditional angle using the Twin Blooms Bundle.
Let me know in the comments below if you are going to try either of these modern floral techniques - and don’t forget, I always love to see what you make, so be sure to share!
