How Do I Declutter And Organize My Craft Room?

A cluttered craft room can be frustrating and overwhelming. You know you need to declutter, but where do you even start? Here are our top 3 tips on how to organize and declutter craft supplies

Start By Purging Your Craft Supplies

What is the first step to decluttering your room? Purge your supplies. Go through everything and get rid of anything that you no longer use or that is damaged beyond repair. Once you've sorted through your supplies, put them into categories, so they're easy to find when you need them. For example, you might have a section for stamps, stencils, dies, inks, tools, and so on. This will help you stay organized and make the most of the space in your craft room.

Invest in Multi-Purpose Furniture and Upcycle Old Stuff

One way to make more space in your craft room is to invest in multi-purpose furniture and upcycle old stuff. For example, an ottoman with hidden storage can be used as a place to store 12x12 patterned paper, cardstock, and other large or bulky tools. A coffee table with drawers can hold tiny bits and bobs, stickers, washi tapes, and more. An old mug can hold paintbrushes, pencils, alcohol markers, etc.

Get creative with your furniture choices and look for pieces that can serve more than one purpose.

TIP! Invest in clear acrylic storage boxes - or any clear or transparent storage. This makes it easier to find supplies if you don’t have labels.

Use Vertical Space Wisely

Using vertical space wisely is a must-try hack for organizing craft supplies - especially if you have a tiny craft room. If you have empty walls, consider hanging shelves to store supplies or displaying finished projects.

How to Declutter Your Craft Room in 8 Easy Steps

1. Schedule some "me" time. Set aside an hour or two when you know you won't be interrupted. Turn off your phone, close the door, and make yourself a cup of tea, coffee, or whatever your go-to drink is. You deserve it!

It's okay to be ruthless here - if you haven't used it in 6 months (or longer), chances are you never will. On the other hand, this is a great way to get out those old faves and find new ways to use them.
3. Get rid of the trash: This one is easy - just get rid of anything that is broken beyond repair or that you would never use, even if it were fixed. Don't think about it too much, just do it!

4. Donate or sell what you don't want: Give away anything that is still usable but that you know you won't use. You can sell items if you think they would be of value to someone else.
5. Put away what you're keeping: Once you've decided what to keep, find a home for everything. If possible, store items near where you'll be using them so they're always at hand when you need them. That way, you're less likely to buy duplicates of things because you can't find the original!

7. Purge regularly: Set up a regular decluttering schedule - once a month, every other month, quarterly...whatever works for you. That way, you'll never again have to deal with a huge mess all at once!

Enjoyed the video ideas greatly. Where can the white drawers be purchased? It looks like they slide easily and waste no space.

I have to see my “goodies”, not in drawers. This way I use what I have…after a project, I clean and get ready for the next project. At hands reach….it is used.
