April 2026 Guest Designer of the Month | Bold Floral Card
Get to Know Our Guest Designer - Martin
Hi Crafty Friends! My name is Martin Stone, and I’m so honored to be joining the Altenew blog as a Guest Designer. Altenew has been one of my favorite brands for years, and I’ve always admired the beautiful florals, thoughtful design, and versatile products that make creating truly special cards so much fun.
A little bit about me — I’m a passionate cardmaker based in the UK, and I love exploring different techniques to bring my projects to life. My style often leans towards bold focal points paired with detailed coloring and layered elements. I especially enjoy combining techniques such as alcohol marker coloring, die cutting, and ink blending to create cards with lots of depth and visual interest.

Creating a Bold Floral Card with Layered Dimension
For today’s project, I created a bold floral card with a bold sentiment using the Mega Greetings Stamp Set paired with the stunning Build-A-Garden: Rosa Gallica set.
For the post today, I created my card using the following products:
To begin my card, I stamped the beautiful florals from the Build-A-Garden: Rosa Gallica set onto white cardstock. These florals are perfect for coloring, so I used the Cottage Garden Artist Alcohol Marker Set N to bring them to life. I love how alcohol markers allow you to build depth and soft blends in the petals while still keeping the colors vibrant.
Once the florals were colored, I arranged them around the edges of my card panel to create a natural frame for the sentiment. For the background, I chose Crafty Necessities: Dark Night Cardstock, which provides a deep, rich contrast against the soft pink florals and green foliage.
Next came the focal point of the card. I stamped the large script sentiment from the Mega Greetings Stamp Set and heat-embossed it onto vellum cardstock. I then fussy cut the sentiment, leaving a generous border around the lettering so the vellum softens the florals beneath while still allowing the design to show through.
For the supporting sentiment, I used one of the sentiments from the One-Go: Solid Sentiment Strips 3 Press Plates/Foil Plates (Gratitude Edition), which adds a clean and modern touch to the design.
To finish the card, I added a few delicate embellishments using the Stellar Sequins – Clear Iridescent along with a touch of white splatter. These small details add just the right amount of sparkle and help bring the entire design together.
I love how this card combines bold contrast with soft floral elements, making it perfect for sending a thoughtful message to someone special.
Thank you so much for joining me on the Altenew blog today, and I hope this project inspires you to create something beautiful with your Altenew supplies!
Happy crafting,
Martin
