Absolutely love all of Sara’s videos. This class is a quick trick for creating watercolor type backgrounds without the knowledge of watercolor art. You will love the tips that Sara gives on a whole new way of card making
Pros: The class structure was well done--each of the six lessons covered a different medium used with the gelli plate. The instructor was enthusiastic and detailed. Cons: I thought most of the cards looked very similar--would have liked to see more variety. Also, sadly I ruined my gelli plate following the directions in the Lesson 2 video. The instructor says you can use Yupo paper if you work quickly. I followed her directions (working quickly) but the paper immediately stuck to the plate, taking chunks out of it when I pulled it off. Not good advice. If you go on the Gelli Plate website (https://www.gelliarts.com/pages/faq#nine), it specifically states:
Q: Are there any papers that should NOT be used?
A: Yes! We have learned that glossy coated paper stock is not compatible with the Gelli® plate. It can immediately stick to the plate and not come off without damaging the plate's surface. DO NOT use any glossy papers (including glossy photo papers).
I share this hoping other students will enjoy the class, but not follow this advice and make this mistake.
This technique was definitely new to me and I enjoyed the course. Definitely fun.
This is one of my favorite classes I've taken from Altenew. I've had a gelli plate in my stash for a long time but never used it. This class gave me so many ideas on how to use it. It push me to be creative with the use of it too!
